Daniel Anderson is a great example of someone who is talented and passionate about cricket, and effectively used his experience with the Coaches’ Association (HKHDCCA) to springboard to higher opportunities. DA works for Cricket NSW and is currently Head of Clubs & Competitions – Metro, after previously performing the key roles of Area Manager – Sydney North, and Cricket Manager – North Shore.
DA got his start in cricket coaching at the age of 15 when the Coaches’ Association appointed him as one of the coaches of the U/13 Glenn Hourigan Cup teams in 2010-11. He was a natural coach from day 1 and continued to coach for the Coaches’ Association for 8 years until January 2019, completing 79 days service. He acted as Head Coach at some of our junior cricket clinics in the school holidays, when required.
DA is an experienced First Grade batter with Northern District CC and appeared 12 times as the ‘showcase’ MasterClass batter at HKHDCCA’s junior cricket clinics.
He won the prestigious HKHDCCA Coach of the Year Award (Bruce Wood Cup) in 2018-19.
DA also performed the role of Head Coach at the West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook CC Academy from August 2015 – January 2019.
Daniel made the following comments about his years with the Coaches’ Association:
“I feel very fortunate to have been given my first opportunity to work in Cricket with the Coaches Association. Bruce Wood, Rod Hokin and the other pioneers of the Association created an excellent (and fun) learning environment for both players and coaches, mentoring myself and other aspiring coaches in how to teach, lead and have a hunger for personal development. I have no doubt that the skills learned during my time with the Coaches Association provided a strong foundation for me to enter the workforce with an understanding of what makes Cricket so great. Thank you to Bruce and the team for giving me my first opportunity and I look forward to following the continued success of what is an important and high-quality not for profit organisation.”
