The three perpetual trophy award winners at the Coaches’ Association’s AGM on 9 June 2026 were as follows:
Bruce Wood Cup (Coach of the Year Award) – Madeleine Mitchell from Glenorie District CC.
Madeleine is Vice President of Glenorie District CC and a former Junior Co-ordinator. She was Coach of the club’s U/14 Girls HK&HDCA Stage 2 Premiership team in 2025-26. The team previously won the Stage 1 Girls Friday night competition under her coaching. She has been coaching this core group of girls since they were Under 8’s. The success of the team has truly been built on years of Madeleine’s dedication, patience, leadership and commitment to developing the girls, both as cricketers and as young people. The positive culture she has created within the team and across the Girls program has had a huge impact on the growth of female cricket at the club. Madeleine showed the girls how to be competitive, work hard and live a fit and healthy lifestyle. These girls now have a love for their club and cricket at large, thanks to their amazing coach.
President’s Award – Tyler Lang – Coaches’ Association’s Treasurer / HK&HDCA Representative Coach.
Tyler efficiently performed the Treasurer role for the Coaches’ Association in 2025-26, and also undertook the role of Community & Rep. Program Coordinator. This entailed leading the pre-season development programs that the Coaches’ Association held for Thornleigh CC; Mount Colah CC; Asquith RLCC; HK&HDCA U10 – 11 Reps; and St Ives Junior CC Girls, between June and September 2025. Tyler completed the Cricket Australia Representative (Level 2) Accredited Coaching Course in 2022. Since 2021, he has coached HK&HDCA junior representative teams (Moore Shield in 2025-26). He has been a senior HKHDCCA coach since 2023, coaching at school holiday junior cricket clinics, and club / representative pre-season development programs. Tyler has twice coached HK&HDCA U/15 Ross Turner Cup teams, winning in 2024-25 and 2025-26.
Rookie Coach Award – Amelia Moyes from Coaches’ Association / Northern District CC / Barker College.
Amelia is a local talent who plays her cricket for WPHC CC, Barker, and NDCC’s Second Grade and U/18 Brewer Shield teams. She is the perfect mould for a young leader in the association, moving forward. From the moment she stepped out of her comfort zone and into the world of coaching, Amelia has displayed a tremendous amount of dedication and enthusiasm towards her work. Amelia establishes a meaningful connection with the junior cricketers she engages with, which is one of our most important values. Amelia has displayed her qualities, coaching at multiple HKHDCCA school holiday clinics across 2025-26, and she provided expert support at our St Ives Girls Pre-Season program at MTO. HKHDCCA is fortunate to have such a strong female role model in our community, driving engagement and participation in this wonderful sport.
